Certification
Guidelines
Our certification
objective is to provide credible documentation of as to the applicant’s
capability for doing hands-on Testing and Balancing work. We strive
to provide credentials that would be acceptable to the design engineers
who write TAB specifications and to regulatory agencies that require
that TAB work be done by certified personnel.
To achieve EEC certification, applicants must meet our general educational
requirement, specific training on Testing & Balancing requirement,
experience requirement, a documentation of educational & experience
requirement and pass a comprehensive examination. Since we certify three
(3) levels of Technicians and three (2) levels of Engineers, requirements
vary from level to level.Written “Requirements for Certification”
may be obtained from the web site.Certification levels and cost are
as follows:
Certification
of individuals at the following levels of proficiency are offered:
To
become certified, applicants are required to:
1. Meet educational and experience requirements of the applied-for-classification.
2. Pass a comprehensive examination.
3. Classifications
descriptions, which are appended, delineate the educational and work
experience requirements of each level of classification
4. Applicable education
and experience are very important components of the applicant's qualifications.
So that these factors can be evaluated, the applicant is required to
provide documentation of both educational and experience background
as follows:
5. Examinations
will be scheduled Spring & Fall annually.
6. Except for Part
I, examinations will be “open book”, and will consist of
three parts – oral,
written, and practical, Part I will be “Closed Book”.
7. All examinations
will be prepared by, administered by, and evaluated by a registered
Professional Engineer who is also a Certified Testing and Balancing
Engineer.
8. Exams are given
in "Parts" having a maximum time limit of 2 hours each. The
number of "Parts" vary with classifications levels as follows:
- Associate Testing
and Balancing Technician - 4 parts
- Certified Testing
and Balancing Technician - 5 parts
- Certified Field
Supervisor - 6 parts
- Certified Associate
Testing and Balancing Engineer - 6 parts
- Certified Testing
and Balancing Engineer - 7 parts
9. In the event
of failure of the examination, the applicant will be awarded a lower
level
certificate for which he qualifies, or may repeat the examination one
time at no additional
cost. In the event of a second failure, the applicant would be required
to reapply at a
subsequent date but no sooner than one year after the second examination.
10. Upon completion
of requirements, ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING
CONSULTANTS will provide a written certificate stating that:
WE HAVE EXAMINED
THE CREDENTIALS OF (Name of Candidate) BY
REVIEWING EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND, WORK EXPERIENCE, AND
HAVE ADMINISTERED COMPREHENSIVE WRITTEN, ORAL AND PRACTICAL
EXAMINATIONS, IT IS OUR PROFESSIOAL OPINION THAT THE CANDIDATE
IS QUALIFIED TO PERFORM TAB WORK AT THE LEVEL OF (as applicable)
11. Certifications
may be upgraded by upgrading educational and experience documentation
and by taking and passing a more comprehensive examination.
12. Documentation of all background information and all examinations
will be maintained by
ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING CONSULTANTS.
13. Ownership of any particular set of instruments is not required.
